This is my third picture for the Show and Tell session and shows hill walkers at the top of the Feystown Road above Cairncastle.br/ The photograph was taken on 25th March 2013.br/ Why did I select this image?br/ br/ I liked the composition : Slemish mountain is in the background, the various bands of different shades across the image give it depth, there is contrast in scale between the expanse of snow and the individual walkers.br/ br/ It turned out that the hill walkers were in fact Mountain Rescue Team members.br/ br/ At this time in 2013 there had been heavy snowfalls with high winds which had caused severe drifting. There had been reports in the news of households being cut off and also sheep being buried in snow drifts.br/ br/ I had decided to walk up the Feystown Road to get to the deeper snow. I had parked my car in front of the Church at Cairncastle and when walking up the Feystown Road I was passed by Mountain Rescue 4x4s and also a television crew 4x4. Near the top of the hill was a snow plough clearing the road.br/ When I got to the top of the hill the Mountain Rescue team was preparing to go over the fence to proceed up towards the top left of the picture to households that had been cut off. One of the team was being interviewed by the TV Crew.br/ br/ I took some photographs and when I returned home I contacted the Larne Times and explained what I had seen and asked if they were interested in photographs of the emergency. They were and published this photograph in the front age of that weeks edition of the newspaper. I have had some photographs published in the back pages of local newspapers over the years but this was the first on the front page.br/ The photograph was taken with a Canon 5D Mk 2, Canon 24-70mm F2.8L Lens set at 70mm, 200 ISO , f13 and 1/500thbr/ br/ The front page of the Larne Times is shown in the following photographbr/ br/ br/ IMG_1845-e
