Denis Rankin passed away on 16th May 2013 whilst taking part in a Hill and Dale Race in the Mourne Mountains.
He was a remarkable man in many ways and I met him whilst he was taking part in mountain races mainly in the Mourne Mountains in the colours of his running club - BARF.
I managed to capture him in action on a number of occasions as he passed me on the slopes of the Mournes usually giving me a loud shout as he passed.
