I have just heard the sad news that Mick Kellett passed away on 26th December 2014.

I took my first photograph of Mick on 20 May 2016 at SlieveMartin in the Mourne Mountains during the Rostrevor Mountain Race - he wpn the V65 category.

Shortly afterwards I was playing golf at Cairndhu Golf Club at the second tee box on top of Ballygally Head and Mick appeared at the top of the Head having been out for a run - he had run up the Head from the Shore Road. He was easily recognisable in the "red bandanna" and we had a chat and I told him I had seen him run at Rostrevor and had photographs of him. He told me he was staying at the Ballygally Castle Hotel - I think he said he was attending a relative's wedding.
The next day I left photographs at the hotel for him. Shortly afterwards he appeared at my front door to thank me for the photographs. I invited him in and we chatted about his mountain running exploits. I recall him telling me his next race was at Carrauntoohil in County Kerry - the highest mountain in Ireland - he was in nid mid-60s at the time.
Mick was a man of the mountains and a true gentleman and I am pleased that our paths crossed and I met his acquantance.
